Meet Our Chefs
Nathan Richardson-Director of Health and Wellness
As the first Director of Health and Wellness for We The People United for Change, Inc. (WTPUFC), Nathan Richardson is dedicated to building stronger, healthier communities through education, wellness, and outreach. With more than three years of experience at the YMCA as an Operations Associate and Program Lead, he has developed and led impactful programs that benefit individuals and families throughout the community.
Bringing over 10 years of experience as a professional chef, Nathan combines his passion for nutrition, wellness, and community engagement by leading a weekly family chef program at the YMCA. Through this program, he teaches families how to prepare fun, healthy, and affordable meals together while promoting lifelong healthy habits.
Nathan’s mission is rooted in empowering individuals through health education, positive lifestyle changes, and community unity. He is committed to helping people improve their overall well-being, encouraging healthier living, fostering personal growth, and creating opportunities that inspire new beginnings and a brighter future for generations to come.
Chef Vaughn Montero-Culinary Wellness Chef & Instructor
Chef Vaughn Montero is a professionally trained culinary chef and instructor with nearly two decades of hands-on experience and a passion for using food to strengthen individuals, families, and communities. Classically trained through the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, he holds both a Culinary Arts Diploma and an Associate Degree.
His professional experience includes private and international dining, catering, restaurant operations, kitchen management, menu development, event coordination, and culinary team leadership. He is also trained in food safety and holds ServSafe and Food Handler certifications.
Chef Montero’s passion for cooking is rooted in personal experience. Growing up with limited food and resources taught him to be creative, resourceful, and make the most of what was available. What began as necessity developed into a lifelong passion and professional career.
As Culinary Wellness Chef & Instructor with the Health & Wellness Department at We The People United for Change, Inc., Cheft Montero brings his professional expertise and lived experience to healthy cooking, practical nutrition education, community meals, and wellness programming.
He believes food is about more than preparing a meal—it can bring people together, teach valuable skills, create dignity, and remind people that they matter. His approach is simple: show up, share what you have, and make a difference—one person, one step, and one meal at a time.
